did my first show! two months of dyeing and tying yarn. if i hadn't
taken a vacation at the end of september, i may have actually been
completely prepared. as it was, i was about 90% prepared. pretty damn
good for me!
if we hadn't had to drive most of the
night to get there and get up early to be there, i would have been
jumping up and down excited. instead, i was a gentle swaying sort of
excited. my head was so fuzzled that i am still not sure exactly what
went down. i know i sold some yarn and met some folks.
the
best part of the show was the nanimals. i petted alpacas, bunnies,
sheeps, and a camel. if you know me at all, you know that i want a pair
of alpacas for my yard. you know that i love animals and can't keep my
hands off of them. lucky for me, most of the animals tolerated the
love; if they didn't, i tried to be sneaky with my petting. sometimes
it worked. i at least got to brush the fur of an angora bunny with my
fingertips. i guess it's a texture/touch thing, but i cannot tear
myself away from a potentially pettable animal.
texture/touch.
now that's a good seque to yarn, right? so this was definitely a heavy
on the fiber type show. lots of wool and fiber and batts and braids
and wheels and spindles and handspun. the better to touch. and
heavenly days, i have to learn how to spin! (another lucky for me--i
met johnny skein from lake geneva, right down the road. he teaches
spinning. also a cool j.jill style knitwear designer.)
i
saved myself from buying yarn, although color story and cakewalk had
booths. instead i bought myself a cute-as-a-button coat. i gotta find
that card so that i can link the designer/sewer here.
best
of all, i met some rav friends and made a couple of new friends. all
in all, the show was a success! i can't wait to do another!
